How to Reach

Nalanda Vipassana Center is located inside the Cultural Village (Shilp Gram) at Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, near the Xuan Zang Memorial, Nalanda, Bihar, India.

The center is about 1 km from the ancient Nalanda ruins and is situated near a peaceful lake in a quiet environment suitable for meditation.

By Air

The nearest airports are:

  • Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport (Patna) – about 90 km from Nalanda

  • Gaya International Airport (Gaya) – about 95 km from Nalanda

From either airport, taxis and buses are available to reach Nalanda, Rajgir, or Bihar Sharif. From there you can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the center.


By Train

The nearest railway stations are:

  • Rajgir Railway Station – approx. 15 km

  • Bihar Sharif Railway Station – approx. 13 km

  • Gaya Junction – approx. 95 km

Auto-rickshaws, taxis, and local buses are easily available from these stations to reach Nalanda town and the meditation center.


By Road

Nalanda is well connected by road with major cities of Bihar:

  • Patna – about 90 km

  • Gaya – about 95 km

  • Rajgir – about 15 km

  • Bodh Gaya – about 110 km

Regular buses, taxis, and shared vehicles operate between these cities and Nalanda. From Nalanda town, take a local auto-rickshaw or taxi to Nava Nalanda Mahavihara campus (Shilp Gram) where the center is located.


Local Directions

Once you reach Nava Nalanda Mahavihara campus:

  1. Enter the campus and proceed towards Shilp Gram (Cultural Village).

  2. Look for the Xuan Zang Memorial Hall.

  3. The Nalanda Vipassana Center is located just next to the memorial building.

Local auto-rickshaw drivers usually know “Vipassana Center” or “Xuan Zang Memorial”.
